ISLA DE LA REUNIóN
Descubierta en 1513 por las Mascarenhas portuguesas, la isla pasó a ser francesa en 1638. Llamada Isla Borbón, su concesión fue otorgada a la Compañía de las Indias Orientales en 1664 y luego, en 1793, se convirtió en Isla de la Reunión. Ha sido uno de los cuatro departamentos de ultramar desde 1946..
