Poids très léger. Le droit semble présenter des races de surfrappe. Ce type rappelle plutôt les dernières monnaies romaines de cuivre des règnes de Léon ou de Zénon, raison pour laquelle ce type fut parfois attribué à Justinien Ier.

Justino II, sobrino de Justiniano I, se casó con Sofía, sobrina de Teodora, en 548. Fueron coronados el 20 de noviembre de 565. Justino privado de la razón, fue en realidad Sofía quien gobernó con la ayuda de Narsés, general en jefe. jefe en Italia, que termina deshonrando. No supo afrontar los problemas y las invasiones de los lombardos en Italia, los visigodos en España, los sasánidas en Oriente.
