In the pre-decimal monetary system, 1/2 Farthing was equivalent to 1/8 of a Penny or 1/1920 of a Pound Sterling. These coins were primarily minted for use in Ceylon from 1828, although from 1842 they were officially declared legal tender in the United Kingdom.
