Poitou, Saintonge et Angoumois... François de Villemontée fut marié avec Catherine de Thumery. Après s'être ruiné à son intendance, François de Villemontée mit sa femme au couvent et se fit prêtre. Avec l'influence de Le Tellier, il obtint l'évêché de Saint Malo.

L'AUNIS ET LA ROCHELLE
Entre Poitou y Saintonge, Aunis tiene como capital a La Rochelle y comprende también las localidades de Brouage y Rochefort. Posesión de los Plantagenets, fue tomada en 1224 y luego perdida durante el Tratado de Brétigny (1360). Aunis se subleva poco después y se entrega al rey Carlos V. Es uno de los bastiones del protestantismo en el siglo XVI y principios del XVII hasta la toma de La Rochelle en 1628.
