Circulating commemorative coin from the “Austrian Abbeys and Monasteries” series. The obverse depicts the building of the Benedictine Abbey of St. Paul in Lavanttal (southern Austria, in Carinthia), founded in 1091. It has one of the largest collections of monastic art in Europe. The reverse depicts the south portal of the Romanesque-style church, although it was built in 1618 on the foundations of the old one.
