La cotisation annuelle au club des Cordeliers était de 24 sols soit le salaire journalier d'un ouvrier spécialisé. Si le recrutement de ce club est typiquement parisien et populaire, la direction du club est entre les mains de riches bourgeois et révolutionnaires tel Georges Danton (1759-1794) qui a fondé le club avec Marat.
On peut légitimement se demander si le titulaire de l’exemplaire n° 5 était l’un des fondateurs ? Il a en tous cas souvent fréquenté le club, son jeton ayant manifestement beaucoup eté montré. Qui était le n° 5 ? Mystère... .
The annual membership fee to the Cordeliers Club was 24 sols, the equivalent of a skilled worker's daily wage. While membership in this club was typically Parisian and popular, its management was in the hands of wealthy bourgeois and revolutionaries such as Georges Danton (1759-1794), who founded the club with Marat.
