Point initial au revers, DVC, les branches latérales de la croix des armoiries sont droites. Jeton décrit dans la Gazette numismatique française de 1898, p.274 et n° 385 “Jetons offerts à Charles - François - Frédéric, duc de Montmorency - Luxembourg, gouverneur de Normandie, par la ville de Rouen. Il a été frappé des jetons aux armes de la ville de Rouen, qui ont pour légende : PRESENTÉ PAR LE CORPS DE VILLE DE ROUEN 1709. Les armes du duc de Luxembourg sont au revers, autour desquelles on lit : CH. F. F. DVC. DE. LVXEMBOVRG. GOUVER. DE. NORMANDIE”.

NORMANDIE (GOUVERNEURS DE...)
Los gobiernos, divisiones militares y políticas del reino eran doce en el siglo XVI, treinta y nueve en 1776, de los cuales dieciocho eran de primera clase (Picardía, Flandes, Normandía, Lorena, Borgoña, etc.) y veinte una segunda clase (Boulonnais, Artois, Berry, Auvergne, etc.). Los gobernadores, figuras importantes durante las Guerras de Religión y, a veces, peligrosos rivales de poder, vieron sus poderes disminuidos por la realeza, en particular por Enrique IV o por Richelieu. Luis XIV redujo su ejercicio a tres años y les dejó sólo honores, mientras los intendentes ejercían la realidad del poder en el campo. Los gobiernos, sin embargo, siguieron transmitiéndose en las grandes familias: Condé en Borgoña, Luxemburgo en Normandía, etc..
