Style particulier avec un très beau portrait inhabituel. D’après Hoover ce type pourrait avoir été frappé sous contôle pontique entre 120-111 et 100-100 avant J.-C. au début du règne de Mithridates VI. Ce type semble plus rare. C’est la première fois que nous le proposons à la vente.

Historial
PONTOS - AMISOS
(siglos II - I a. C.)
Ubicada en el Mar Negro entre Sinope y Farnaces, Amisos fue fundada en el siglo VI a. C. por los milesios y los foceanos. A mediados del siglo siguiente, poblada por colonos atenienses, pasó a llamarse Peiraeus (Pireo). Datames se apoderó de Amisos en el 372 a. C., la ciudad se convirtió en tributaria de los persas y se estableció una oligarquía. Fue Alejandro Magno quien liberó la ciudad y restauró su estatus democrático. Su acuñación se prolongó hasta el siglo I a. C., experimentando una importante extensión bajo el reinado de Mitrídates VI del Ponto (120-63 a. C.).
