(1799-1816)

Segundo hijo de la reina María I y del rey consorte Pedro III de Portugal, Juan VI (1767-1826) se convirtió en heredero del trono tras la muerte de su hermano mayor José en 1788. Asumió la regencia del Reino de Portugal y sus colonias entre 1799 y 1816 cuando su madre Marie I se hundió en la demencia.
