James Richard Marie Mancham est nommé en 1970, premier ministre de la colonie Britannique. Le 29 juin 1976, lors de l’indépendance, il devient le premier président de la République des Seychelles. Il sera renversé par un coup d’état de 5 juin 1977..
James Richard Marie Mancham was appointed Prime Minister of the British colony in 1970. On June 29, 1976, upon independence, he became the first President of the Republic of Seychelles. He was overthrown in a coup d'état on June 5, 1977.
