Ce type, originaire de l’aire du denier, a peut-être été frappé par les Lingons. Cette attribution lui vient, comme le font remarquer les auteurs du Nouvel Atlas de ce que ce denier “fort rare, est associé dans plusieurs trouvailles aux quinaires de KALETEDOY”. Mais si une pluralité d’atelier est probable pur les monnaies KALETEDOY, l’atelier qui frappa les CONT reste incertain, peut-être chez les Lingons, peut-être ailleurs !

El territorio de los Lingon era muy extenso, a caballo entre el actual departamento de Haute-Marne y parte de la Côte d'Or, Yonne y Aube. Su capital estaba situada en Langres. Estaban rodeados por los Sequani, los Mandubians, los Leuci, los Remes, los Suessions, los Senones y los Aedui. Era una de las civitas más grandes de la Galia. Langres, que ha conservado su nombre, parece haber sido uno de sus oppida. Aliados de los romanos, no tomaron parte en la Guerra. Los helvéticos, durante su retirada tras la derrota de Bibracte, cruzaron el territorio de Lingon. Y en el 52 a. C., no enviaron emisarios, no se unieron a la revuelta y no participaron en el ejército de socorro enviado a Vercingétorix. Por otra parte, en el 51 antes del J. - C., proporcionaron un contingente de caballería a los romanos para luchar contra los belovacos y los belgas. Por lo tanto, permanecieron fieles a la alianza romana. Se citan varias veces en los Comentarios de César. César (BG. I, 26, 40; IV, 10; VI, 44; VII, 9, 63, 66; VIII, 11).
