Este pequeño pueblo no es citado ni por Ptolomeo ni por Estrabón más que por César. Debió pertenecer al grupo más general de Longostaletes, en la región entre Narbona y Béziers. Son las excavaciones recientes, realizadas durante los últimos treinta años, las que han permitido devolver a los oppida de Montlaurès y Ensérune la importancia que habían adquirido entre la creación de la provincia de Narbonnaise, en el 118 a. el fin de las guerras de las Galias.
