Víctor Manuel II (14/03/1820-9/01/1878), hijo de Carlos Alberto y Teresa de Toscana, sucedió a su padre, que abdicó en 1849. En doce años, con la ayuda de Cavour y la alianza de Francia , reconstituirá el reino de Italia para su beneficio en 1861 pero no tomará Roma hasta 1870. En 1859, el Gran Ducado de Toscana es derrocado y toma como monarca a Víctor Manuel II..
